Thirteen Romantic Things to do on New Year's Eve, even if you have kids!
Another year has come and gone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas - we did, even though the house is destroyed and relaxation was far from part of our holidays :-)
So, how do you plan on bringing in the new year?
I'm sure there are lots of people making reservations for New Year packages at their local hotels. Maybe you're heading off to a party at a friend's house or ringing in 2008 at your favorite nigh club, maybe you're throwing your own New Year's celebration or attending a midnight service at your community worship center...
Well, not everyone is fortunate enough to have the time, the funds, or the babysitter to go out for New Year's Eve, so I thought I would put together a list of romantic ideas for New Year's Eve that can work even if you have children...
13 romantic ways to bring in the new year without leaving home
Feed the little ones, do the bedtime routine, and tuck them in. If there are fireworks in your area, you may want to let them watch a few before bed or get them up for half an hour or so before midnight.
Treat one another to a home spa experience: bubble bath, massages, if your man's in a really adventurous mood you can even try a refreshing face mask ;-) Don't forget scented candles to set the mood. Lavender is relaxing and arousing, rose is a romantic scent as well. This gift basket would be a perfect addition to these plans.
Pop some popcorn and cuddle on the couch while you watch the festivities in Times Square.
Pull out the strobe light and your favorite cd's so you can enjoy your own dance club right in your living room. If dancing in your living room isn't already a habit, it's a good time to start ;-)
Bundle up, grab a blanket, and watch the fireworks in your neighborhood, if possible. We live in a state where fireworks are legal so our neighborhood is quite a show.
Shoot your own fireworks if you can. If not, try some virtual fireworks in the city of your choice.
Enjoy a gourmet candle light dinner for two. If you don't feel like cooking, consider take-out from a local restaurant. Steak Out Delivery is available in some areas so you don't have to leave the house for a nice dinner out.
Mix a pitcher of daiquiris together and relax.
Save some of the strawberries from the daiquiris to feed each other with chocolate dip.
Start a fire if you have a fireplace (or enjoy this virtual fireplace, complete with sounds if you don't), drink hot cocoa, and look through pictures from past holidays together as you reminisce.
Plan a night of bedroom fun to ensure a healthy and prosperous new year. Try a sex game from Michael Webb, try out a new flavored massage oil, or some other intimate adventure that you both will enjoy.
Kiss passionately at midnight.
Make a list of your top ten favorite memories of 2007 and share them with one another.
Valentine's Day is right around the corner so start planning your most romantic day of the year. We'd love to hear your ideas for the most romantic Valentine's Day ever...email them to us here!

Wonderful list. A little harder when your kids are older, but still not too bad for romantic ideas.

Those really are some great ideas. I like #13 especially and I am going to use it!
PS Danielle, tinsel is the worst. This year the dogs keep getting under the tree and dragging it around everywhere. Ugh.

Love your suggestions! 3, 7, and 10 keep me at home - and I like that! I don't like to be out with the amateur drinkers on New Year's Eve.

What a great list. My guy & I are staying in, so after the kiddos fall asleep, we get to spend time together. I might try some of the suggestions.
